Heather is President of the Prince George's Young Republicans. She has been an active member of the club since 2002, and previously served as treasurer. She is also Secretary of the Republican Central Committee for Prince George's County, representing legislative district 22. She served as Prince George's Co. Chair for the McCain-Palin campaign, and was an alternate delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention. She has volunteered for a number of federal, state, and local political campaigns. She was awarded the 2007 Robert A Yost, Sr. Award for volunteer service to the Republican Party of Prince George's County. She recieved the 2008 Maryland Young Republican Woman of the Year Award.
Born and raised in New York's Hudson Valley, Heather has lived in Prince George's County since 1998. Her professional career has included program management and fundraising work for a number of international non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross, the International Research and Exchanges Board, the Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe, and Women In International Security. She received her BA in Politics from Washington and Lee University, and her MA in Foreign Affairs (with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union) from the University of Virginia.
In addition to her political involvement, Heather is immediate past president and program chair of the Prince George's County Genealogical Society, treasurer of her alumni chapter, and serves on a Hyattsville city council committee dealing with bicycle and pedestrian safety issues.
